Where to farm saltpeter
- Driftwood Cove Sea Cave — coastal, 6 nodes, easy. Bring a lamp.
- PT9 Foothills bat cave — 12 nodes but bat ambush.
- Brass Bay smuggler den — 8 nodes, but a Lv 14 NPC patrols.
Where to farm sulfur
- PT9 east volcanic rim — yellow crystalline nodes glow at night.
- Saltforge Mines — guaranteed 10+ nodes after Saltforge Warden killed.
Charcoal in 30 seconds
Place a Charcoal Kiln, dump 25 wood inside, light. It produces 5 charcoal in 4 in-game minutes. You can run two kilns side by side — they don’t share a heat zone like cooking fires do.
Pro tip
Build the Powder Mill downwind of your base. There’s a 5% chance per craft of a misfire explosion in Patch 0.7.3 — chests within 4 tiles can lose their inventory.
