| Boss | Region | Rec. Lv | Difficulty | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Swamp Toad | Salt Marsh | 10 | ★★★★ | The infamous first wall. Parry the tongue, not the body slam. |
| Ironclad Captain | Driftwood Reef | 18 | ★★★ | Sea-only fight. Approach from windward, broadside three times. |
| Sirens of PT9 | PT9 Foothills | 22 | ★★★★★ | Three sisters, one HP pool — focus the middle. |
| Saltforge Warden | Saltforge Mines | 26 | ★★★ | Stagger heavy. Greataxe charged R2 staggers in 3 hits. |
| The Becalmed | Open Sea (event) | 30 | ★★★★ | Storm-spawn event. Brings doldrums — bring oars, not sails. |
Universal boss rules
- Bring 5 cooked fish. Heal item beats potion — fish heals over time and stacks with bandage.
- Use the parry window, not the dodge. Dodge i-frames in Windrose are only 8 frames; parry window is 14.
- Strip armor before boss runs. Heavy armor caps your dodge roll distance — most bosses one-shot if your roll is fat.
- Save right outside the fog wall. If you die, you spawn at last bed — could be 10 minutes away. See how to save.
Why bosses feel unfair right now
A common Steam complaint: “Even a perfect parry takes damage on the Swamp Toad.” This is a known stamina-overflow bug in Patch 0.7.x — perfect parries still drain stamina, and if your stamina hits 0 mid-parry the parry becomes a block. Until patched: keep stamina above 40% at all times. The Kraken Express dev posted on Discord that a fix is in 0.8.
