Universal boss rules

  • Bring 5 cooked fish. Heal item beats potion — fish heals over time and stacks with bandage.
  • Use the parry window, not the dodge. Dodge i-frames in Windrose are only 8 frames; parry window is 14.
  • Strip armor before boss runs. Heavy armor caps your dodge roll distance — most bosses one-shot if your roll is fat.
  • Save right outside the fog wall. If you die, you spawn at last bed — could be 10 minutes away. See how to save.

Why bosses feel unfair right now

A common Steam complaint: “Even a perfect parry takes damage on the Swamp Toad.” This is a known stamina-overflow bug in Patch 0.7.x — perfect parries still drain stamina, and if your stamina hits 0 mid-parry the parry becomes a block. Until patched: keep stamina above 40% at all times. The Kraken Express dev posted on Discord that a fix is in 0.8.
