Windrose Solo Tips

Windrose is designed for 2–4 players, but solo is fully viable if you bend the rules a little. Here's how.

Best solo loadout

  • Ship: Sloop (4 cannons). Brigantine is unsailable solo.
  • Cannon split: All 4 on one side — saves iron, fires faster.
  • Weapon: Boarding Saber + Flintlock Pistol (ignore parry frames in panic).
  • Armor: Light leather to keep fast roll.
  • Talents: Quick Reload + Sea Legs first.

The asymmetric cannon trick

Solo, you can only fire one side at a time. Mount all cannons on one broadside (port or starboard) — you get the full firepower of a Sloop on every salvo and save half the iron + gunpowder cost. Just remember which side it is when you maneuver.

Save-spam strategy

Solo means no rescue. Sleep at a bed before every cave, every boarding, every boss attempt. See save guide. The 30 seconds you spend saving will not be the run that costs you an hour.

Skip solo (until 0.8)

  • Sirens of PT9 — three-target fight is co-op-tuned.
  • The Becalmed — storm event only triggers in groups of 3+.
  • Hardcore difficulty — solo permadeath is brutal in 0.7.x.
